If something were to happen during this period, you can establish service connection and be eligible through the normal application process. Lastly, in active duty for training, that's like your drill weekend. If you're drilling at the Armory and you hurt your ankle while you're there or if you trip down the stairs, hurt yourself unloading a truck, or even if you're injured during the pickup basketball game at the unit, all of these could potentially be eligible for VA disability if you establish the service connection. There is no specific total number of veterans eligible to serve in the Selected Reserve, but the total of the number served must equal a minimum of 80% of one percent of the active-duty Army of the United States on October 11, 1990.
